We saw in the previous article that we were created for one purpose, which is the worship of Almighty God alone, and we saw that God made a way for believers to take it, in order to to make them happy in their underworld and beyond, the characteristics of this path are the subject of this article and of the articles to come, God willing.
In this article, we will talk about the religion that God ordered people to follow to succeed in this world and in the hereafter, it is the religion of Islam of which our Lord said about it:
وَمَنْ يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلٰمِ دِينًا فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِى الْأَاخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخٰسِرِينَ
"And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers."
(QS. Aal-i-Imraan 3: Verse 85)
In order to know the Islam that Almighty God wants from us in this verse, we need to know the meaning of the word "Islam" and what is the meaning of the word "addin" and ultimately what is the religion of Islam, and that's what I'm going to touch on, God willing, and I say:
The meaning of the word "addine"
Almighty God chose the language of the Arabs to be the container which contains his last message to the man, because of many wisdom, among which the precision of this language in the expression and its absorption of all that a nobody needs to express, so the word in the language of the Arabs is difficult to find a synonym for him in the language of the Arabs, or a word with the same meaning in other languages, this difficulty made transfer almost impossible meanings of God's message to other languages, especially with regard to basic words with specific meanings such as the word "addin", the word "islam", the word "Ibada", the word "arrab ", and the word" ilah ", these words which express The main subject of the last message are clearly incomprehensible, not only for non-Arabs, but for contemporary Arabs who no longer speak the same eloquence that existed at the time of the revelation.
Unfortunately, the translation of the word "addine" in the French language is incorrect, because the word "religion" has been placed for that, which does not mean the word "addine" in the Arabic language, because the word "religion" means that a person is related to, or relates to, because it is derived from the verb "to connect", while the word "addin" means the restriction to which a person adheres, and the restriction is more complete and stronger that the link, therefore addin is everything to which a person is subject, whatever it is, whether it be laws and cults, or customs and traditions, everything to which we adhere and we submit , It is considered "addin" for us.
Our Almighty Lord explained this meaning of this word in his word:
وَمَآ أَدْرٰىكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ
"And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?"
(QS. Al-Infitaar 82: Verse 17)
ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرٰىكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ
"Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?"
(QS. Al-Infitaar 82: Verse 18)
يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا ۖ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ
"It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah."
(QS. Al-Infitaar 82: Verse 19)
On the Day of Resurrection, everyone is subject to Almighty God alone, and that is why God called Him the Day of "addin", because everyone is guided by the command of God alone without the slightest objection.
It should be noted that most translations of the Qur'an translate the word "addin" in these verses (17 and 18) by Recompense, while Allah is exalted, explained well who means by the word addin in verse 19 .
As Almighty God clarified that the meaning of "addin" is law in his saying:
"So he began [the search] with their bags before the bag of his brother; then he extracted it from the bag of his brother. Thus did We plan for Joseph. He could not have taken his brother within the religion of the king except that Allah willed. We raise in degrees whom We will, but over every possessor of knowledge is one [more] knowing."
(QS. Yusuf 12: Verse 76)
Joseph will never submit to the law of the unfaithful King, which is why Allah said the law of the King, and not the law of Joseph, peace and blessings be upon him.
We deduce from the above that addin is all that the person is adhered to and subject to.
The meaning of the word Islam
The word Islam is also one of the unique words in the language of the Arabs who do not have a synonym to fulfill its function, Unfortunately, when translated into other languages, it is either considered a proper name, therefore it remains as it is without translation, or it is translated by submission, and it is an obvious error if we return to the language of the Arabs, because the word Islam is derived from the verb "aslama" which means to give one's being voluntarily to God Almighty alone, however submission does not reflect the voluntary aspect in the decision to give one's being to Almighty God.
Religion of islam
Islam, therefore, is that one surrenders to God Almighty voluntarily without any constraint, this in practice means that God alone is the only source of the orders that man receives, and the only source of culture and everything in human life, because Islam must be global, so that there is nothing left except for God, as He said in:
قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِى وَنُسُكِى وَمَحْيَاىَ وَمَمَاتِى لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِينَ
"Say, Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds."
(QS. Al-An'aam 6: Verse 162)
لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُۥ ۖ وَبِذٰلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا۠ أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
"No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims."
(QS. Al-An'aam 6: Verse 163)
Anything, be it worship rituals such as prayer and the others, or life matters, be it politics, economics, social or other things , all this is for Almighty God, and not only that, but death must also be for God alone, There is nothing left for man, and this is completely normal, because man is a creature that has nothing in possession, it makes sense to be subject to God alone who is the Lord of all things, that is to say the master of everything, as our Lord, the Exalted, the Majestic, said it clearly in this denouncing question which, after is the two previous verses:
"Say, Is it other than Allah I should desire as a lord while He is the Lord of all things? And every soul earns not [blame] except against itself, and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you concerning that over which you used to differ."
(QS. Al-An'aam 6: Verse 164)
Islam in this sense is a religion that Almighty God does not accept as a religion other than him, as he said in his saying:
وَمَنْ يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الْإِسْلٰمِ دِينًا فَلَنْ يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِى الْأَاخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخٰسِرِينَ
"And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers."
(QS. Aal-i-Imraan 3: Verse 85)
This is very common, because the one who has not respected the orders of God in this world, it makes sense that he will lose in the afterlife and be destined for hell, because he refrained from obeying his creator in this world, and for God the best example, if someone was hired by another for a specific job in exchange for a certain salary, it is logical and fair that if a worker does not do the job, he will not be entitled to the salary, all the more reason , if this worker was created by the employer and that he belongs to him, there is no doubt that this worker deserves only punishment, because he belongs to his master and he must obey his command.
In the next article, we will talk about more details about Islam, which must be adhered if we want to be saved in this world and beyond.
